I Cleveland Cavaliers, viste le tante mosse estive, sono pronti ad un cambiamento abbastanza radicale del proprio starting five. Come riportato da David Aldridge, il piano di coach Lue sarà quello di spostare Kevin Love nel ruolo di centro e far partire così dalla panchina Tristan Thompson. Il motivo di tale scelta è probabilmente quello di allargare il campo: in quintetto saranno presenti ora tre ottimi tiratori come JR Smith (anche se deve essere confermata la sua preferenza rispetto a Wade), Jae Crowder e, appunto, Love.
Il nuovo quintetto dei Cavs dovrebbe quindi essere composto da Derrick Rose (Thomas quando rientrerà), JR Smith, Jae Crowder, LeBron James e Love, con Wade a guidare la panchina e una second unit dalle spaziature molto meno ampie con Shumpert, Thompson e Korver.
